What is a prayer cloth ?
In the bible it was a handkerchief or apron anointed and sent out from Paul to those that were sick, it is spoken of in Acts 19: 11-12 And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons and the diseases departed from them and the evil spirit went out of them. Note that both handkerchiefs and aprons were used, meaning it did not have to be one or the other but namely a piece of cloth that had been anointed and prayed over.
This brings us to our next question how to make a prayer cloth, even though handkerchiefs and aprons were used during Paul's ministry, in todays modern world where fabric is abundant it is much simpler to cut a piece of cloth than to use handkerchiefs and aprons.
To understand what takes place when you anoint a prayer cloth for someone, it is
not just the cloth, but the obedience to follow the word and your faith in the word of God through his Son Jesus Christ, to sum this up the purpose of our Lord Jesus Christ coming to this world, was to save the soul of mankind, so can Jesus Christ save our soul, heal
our body and redeem us back to God ? Yes he can for if you believe in God you know he can do all things, will you be healed ? The decision rest with God.
The question of how to use a prayer cloth, is that sometimes members and the pastor of a church or ministry will take the cloth and pour oil sometimes olive oil on it and pray over the cloth, this is anointing the cloth, and other times oil will be put on the person that is sick and prayed over, this is anointing that person.
Prayer cloths are used in Churches or ministries of some faiths and denominations as well as some evangelist, that will carry them to different churches and meetings they attend. Some church members also will anoint a prayer cloth or anoint individuals that are sick by visiting homes, nursing homes and hospitals.
As to what a prayer cloth might look like, some are plain cut cloth while others have
printed text and images, while some contain a church or ministry name with contact information, the thing to remember is that both type will do, seeing it is not just the cloth or what is printed on the cloth but it is your faith and obedience to the word of God.
Prayer cloths are only one of the many practices in the bible including the Lord's Supper and Feet Washing. The thing to remember here, is the practice of being a Christian, meaning that you must be born or saved by the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ by calling on his name and confessing your sins to him, trusting in him and following him in Baptism.
So what should we believe ? I for one believe the word of God pertaining to miracles and being healed, because of my time spent around sick people during this time, and seeing some but not all recover from their disease or sickness. So I am persuaded that if only one received this healing, then it is possible through the word of God and following by example Paul in the obedience to the word. We know that no cloth has the power to heal anyone in and of itself, but it is possible I believe to follow Paul in using an anointed cloth for healing, do I believe you will be healed, I do not know, but through faith and trusting God's word, all things are possible.
Can I be saved ?
Yes anyone can be saved by confessing their sins and claiming the Lord Jesus
Christ believing in their heart that Jesus died, was burred and rose from the grave on the third day and is back with the Father God in heaven.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth on him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
What is a Christian ?
A Christian means a person who has claimed Jesus Christ as their Lord, and walk in his ways and teachings that are written in the bible.
Do I have to go to church ?
Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Christians gathered in homes during the time of the apostles, and would also gather together to hear Jesus Christ teach.
You may not always be able to go to church, but if given the opportunity, it would be best, because the scripture said in Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Some or sick, some do not know the way, while others are able but not willing.
What is church some may ask, as I did when I was young and the family would drive by on the way to a camping or fishing trip, people getting out of their cars and walking into this nice building, you see, I was between 7 and 10 years of age when all this took place before moving from my southern home to the big city up north, I thought it was some kind of club and we were ether to poor or not welcome to join, mom and dad never talked about it, so I never asked.
When I turned 23 years of age I moved back to that southern home with family and friends I had so much missed, while always looking for something, but what, and then it started to happen as I meet my amazing wife to be, she ask me to go to church with her, and I excepted the offer not knowing it was going to change my life for ever, people were hugging and telling me they loved me, and how happy they were to have me with them, and listening to the preacher preach those sermons, was a blessing.
Months later I excepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my savior, never looking back
to the past, but looking forward to my new birth and new life, having three children and
many grandchildren, a wonderful wife and a happy life. We have had some troubles come our way, but God has been there for us, far the most part its been very good and looking forward to the rest of my life, knowing that when I die, that God has prepared for me a home with him and his Son Jesus Christ. Church is a good thing, a place to worship our Lord, a place to be born of Christ, and a place to die in Christ.
